Thursday 29th, we paid another visit to CCM. We hadn’t originally planned on a visit so soon, but thought it’d be apt since the 3.50 offer was soon coming to an end (or so we thought, details later).
Since we had a taster session at Baozi Inn (人民公社) planned afterwards, we thought it wise to just stick on one noodle dish and one side dish. The dishes we ordered were Cha Cha Mooli
and Chicken Fen Pi
The Cha Cha Mooli came first, and it looked a generous helping of turnip cake. Other than that, I don’t have any extra comments about it to be honest. The Chicken Fen Pi was an interesting dish, as I was pleasantly surprised by the dry minced pork that was served on top of the fen pi, something that I’d been craving ever since the meat curfew the airports have imposed! The fen pi itself were infused with a wasabi sauce, which was an interesting touch I might add. For those who can tolerate wasabi, it was a sliding scale of “ooh, wasabi flavour” to “omg this is starting to get hot” and then the infamous wasabi up-the-nose feeling. Hence, if you can’t eat hot stuff, best to avoid this.
We decided not to order drinks this time, bringing the bill bang onto GBP7 (sorry, I have no pound sign on my keyboard) and an extra pound for tips. We were full by the end of the quick meal, but we gathered ourselves to make it to Baozi Inn.
Nota Bene, V noticed a man who looked like Mr. Yau lurking around our sitting area. I had a glance and we pretty much decided that this was THE Alan Yau who brought us the wonders of Wagamama, Hakkasan, Yauatcha, Sake No Hana, ChaChaMoon and Busaba Eethai – dear lord we should have kowtowed to the main right there, right then.
And so it seems, as I hear from KT, that the 3.50 offer at ChaChaMoon is here to stay. So there was actually no need for us to scramble in those last days of May. Embrace the low prices and innovative dishes!
