Fethiye Market, Turkey

By tofufa

Every blog seems to have a holiday entry and I will do one from my last summer holiday to Turkey, because I feel lefted out!

Since we stayed on an all-inclusive, very tourist located hotel in Oludeniz. There wasn’t really much chance to try local cuisine and culture, but one Tuesday we wobbled along in a Dolmus to Fethiye market!

Think Borough Market but twice as big and twice as colourful! Spices, turkish delights, cheese, fruits and vegetables were stacked side by side along the river and it was just breath-taking to just walk through the rows and rows of shouting people selling their goods. This what makes a market, to me, so exciting!

We bought figs, peaches, pears and turkish delights! The figs are just amazing, I’ve never liked the figs they have in the UK, but there in Turkey i just fell in love. The honey droplets skimmed the fig skin, which shows the sweetness and freshness of the fruit, it was soft on the outside but when eaten, there was still firm-ness, just……marvellous little things! -sighs- I miss them.

And when you visit Turkey, you must must must must have their non-grease, no bloated feeling, fresh and healthy keabs! Really they were just delicious!

Now readers, here’s the suprise I have for you…………..I actually have pictures! 35 photos for you to glimspe at the amazing market I went to! Because pictures say much more than a thousand words!
