Love Bakery Cupcake – the dissection

By tofufa

DANAI know you’re not meant to play with food, but it was too tempting. Just last week, I had had some Chocolate Cupcake from Hummingbird (yes, the Portobello gem). Well “had” isn’t exactly correct… whilst we listened to the consultant gastroenterologist give a tutorial on GI bleeds, I was merely stealing icing fragments from the top of the cupcake. I carried on for an hour and I was still in the icing, no cake to be seen yet. So once the doctor left, my friend broke off a piece for me and let me just say… I’m not wrong in thinking two inches of icing is a little OTT, right?

So thence I came up with the idea last night, I should start dissecting cupcakes.

As you can see, this Love cupcake only really had about 18mm of icing. And still it was too sweet.

Decoration – Pretty flowers, a rose and glitter spray. Not bad, expected better from them due to prior photos in DailyCandy!
Icing – Good icing, although I’d forego some of that red and green colouring, because one, they clash and two, think of the E numbers!!!
Cake – Moist, although missing that fragrant fresh-out-of-the-oven smell – did they use margarine or lard instead of butter?
