During the month that I had to spend in any way I wanted too, I mean in any way. Including waking up late, sleeping late, eating whatever I wanted too and generally being a carefree girl! Point is, I knew I would get bored so I decided to join some baking classes at causeway bay area……called By Joanne, Stylish Baking. I took 5 lessons in total, each lesson learning a different thing. The lessons go somewhere like this: demonstration, bake and try out the finished good (that the teacher has made), it’s fun and I recommend others to try it……thats’ if they have time to kill in a city like HK.

Cova style blueberry cheesecake @ Joanne

So today, I made the Cova style blueberry cheesecake! Now, I’ve never tried the Cova cheesecake because it’s just utterly expensive and doesn’t seem all that appealing to me but I am told by another student that this tastes exactly like the Cova one! This type of cheesecake has gelatin in the ingredient so it’s lighter, easy to eat, and more for the summer. It hasn’t got that rich, smooth and guilty signs hanging over it, which is perfect for winter. Winter is all about being guilty (reminds me of Nigella Lawson and her guilty pleasures, I’m sure she has said that phrase in one of her programs before but anyways…). Here are the pictures below:

The next lesson I took was making the Lychee mousse cake, I personally found this slightly more difficult to make that the cheesecake. However, saying that I like the lychee mousse with layers of cake in the middle! And I love the coconut and lychee ice cream we got to try out, absolutely heaven! But it’s time consuming to make so I shall wait till I am round my cousins house to steal her machine, =P.

Mooncake making @ Joanne

The next two lessons are the funnest lesson ever! MOONCAKE MAKING! One was the traditional mooncake, which I made once when I cam back to england! The other was the bing pei mooncake (which I don’t have pictures for, camera ran out of batteries.) Main reason for me loving these two lessons so much was because, you can’t really learn recipes online like this, it’ll have to be taught and demonstrated to see how you do the whole procedure. And then I went and purchased a few, about 9, of these mooncake moulds. Crazy thinking back especially since my suitcase was over-flowing already!
