Ever since Year 9 and taking Spanish lesson for a year I have always wanted to try Horchata, or Orchata. And right here in this cafe finally I get to fulfill my wish and turns out that I don’t really like the drink much.
This is it, Orchata, tigernut milk which is refreshing for summer, but I still prefer milk.
A ordered hot chocolate expecting the light whipped cream we get back in UK…..but oh no, this is full calorie loaded, not for the faint hearted and never for the diabetics or the people going on diet drink. This is full on thick sweet cream. Which we both love.
This is what every hot chocolate should be like. Thick chocolatey taste and a sweet thick heavy cream on top, I mean not sprayed on prettily but just dolloped on……i like the authentic I can make this at home feel.
And we ordered this little piece of tofu-like cake because our tour book said so. Drizzled with honey shown here.
It just taste like tofu with honey. But not smooth like tofufa but more ‘rustic’. Me didn’t like too much, but A enjoyed it.

Was the cake like thing mató? The entire dish on the menu would be listed as mel i mató and if that’s so, it’s not a cake but just a piece of fresh cheese.
Yup its the mel i mato! oooohhh its cheesse! We googled it up after ordering it and thought cheese maybe we spelt the spanish name wrong or something…..but thanks for the clarification!! It certainly doesn’t taste like cheese, it was kinda tasteless…………..Although if I had known it was cheese before, probs wouldn’t have ordered it hahaah, since am not a cheese fan! xD
It’s a very very fresh cheese. I quite like it with honey and walnuts if you have any.
