We had hoped to visit the wineries today however after missing the first bus, as bus times locally do not match bus times on the internet, we didn’t have time to visit the wineries and catch the last bus back to Palermo at 6pm.
So today consisted of, literally, travelling 2.5 hours there have lunch and walk around then travel 2.5 hours again! A real relax day trip I’ll say.
We had lunch at Osteria Il Galloe L’innamorata which was good! We ordered mixed seafood starter set, octopus and potatoe salad, busiatte with prawns, busiatte shrimps with pistachio sauce and for drink prosecco.
Octopus and potatoe salad was delicious! Partner in crime thought it could do with less lemon, but for moi it was fine. I love lemons!
I preferred my dish of bisiatte with prawns as it had a tomatoe base sauce and I LOVE TOMATOES.I also love pistachio…..but covinced partner in crime to order it instead of having it myself….I mean pistachio and pasta, really?
To our suprise, pistachio and pasta tasted good! There was only a subtle hint of pistachio rather than a full on affair….recommended because its tasty and different from what you’ll get at an italien restaurant in London.
Marsala is a worthwhile trip if you have a car as this would allow you more flexibility with timing therefore you’ll be able to visit the wineries surrounding it. Also as Marsala is very small, having a car would make Marsala and Trapani/Erice a wonderful day trip!
However, without a car, I would say that Trapani/Erice is a much more worthwhile trip. There is more to see and it’s livlier than Marsala! We certainly didn’t manage to fit in everything we wanted to do in Trapani/Erice.
Although, on second thoughts, if you had a car in Sicily I would advise you to visit the Planeta as 30EUR includes tour and lunch!
