I am writing this blog whilst lying on a sunbed, under the shade of course, on Cefalu beach. Let me tell you one thing : life is amazing and perfect and I can’t believe I have been in Palermo area for 6 days! Time flies by so quickly!
We took the train from Palermo Central Station to Cefalu, which takes an hour. Trains are regular sometimes with the last stop at Cefalu however some trains to Messina go to Cefalu as well, but not all trains to Messina stop here so do check before boarding! The train we took was clean, efficient and on time = me super likes
Cefalu is a small town with a beautiful beach, we chose to pay 15 euros to have 2 sunbeds and an umbrella because the sand is STEAMING HOT to sit on. Like so hot I couldn’t walk on it, super uber duber hot. Not even joking ,it made partner in crime scream like a girl! (you can proceed to giggle like I did!)
After lying around in the heat and feeling content that we had been super lazy, we decided to do some hard work and walk towards gelaterie duomo………to have ourselves some brioche ice cream and milk coffee cream ice slushy.
I like Cefalu, it’s an interesting and pretty place to take a day trip from Palermo. From hustle bustle to a quieter seaside town. For dinner here, we chose Le Chat Noir.
Initially we wanted La Brace but it was closed today and so this was a second choice. Again, we over ordered. Italy seems to do bigger portion than UK which is a good thing as technically it’s possible to do budget travelling here however we are people who orders more than we can eat…….
For starters we had octopus salad because we have been slightly obsessed with octopus lately….it’s like that time in Barcelona we were obsessed with Iberico ham. Yeah that. The starter was delicious and we were very eager to move onto the main!
Then we moved onto pasta dishes, I had a seafood, tomato base pasta (yes I know I am boring and very predictable) and it was enjoyable. Not the best pasta I have had so far in Sicily, but it was very enjoyable! Partner in crime was more adventurous and had pasta with pine nuts, raisins and something else and I preferred his dish more than mine! It was different and had lots of flavour.
Mains came and we ordered swordfish cooked messina style and beef for the partner in crime. It was a slight disappointment, the swordfish was VERY VERY salty which may have been due to the olives. I was looking forward to this dish as it was cooked the same way as Piccolo Napoli did and that was uhhmazingly gorgoues. This, well, was not as good.
In the end we couldn’t finish either of our dishes because mine was too salty and his just wasn’t nice. It was a mediocre dinner and we were a bit hmph-ed out as we had, had two disappointed dinners in a row! Well, there is always tomorrow in Palermo!
Ciao xx
